ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Just a guy, standing in front of a truck, asking it to move him…
J Robert Marlow got his first taste of overlanding on a trip to South Africa in 2003. He thought it might be nice to try that back home in the States, where (mostly) nothing tries to eat, gore, or trample you when you step outside.
Suffice to say that, aside from the occasional jaunt, various events conspired to delay that adventure for far too long. Like many others, John kept telling himself, “One day, I’ll do it.”
But there are only so many One Days left. And so eventually, everyone has to decide: Is this going to be One Day forever, or is this–right now–going to be Day One?
John’s answer was, Day One. Being a writer by trade, it seemed only natural to document the journey.
Follow along with him for the build, the outfitting–and what comes next.
Then do it yourself, at whatever level you can. Fancy builds are nice, but you can overland with a sleeping bag and an ice chest. Get fancy later.
Start now. Make this your Day One.
Adventure awaits.
